About the team
This position is part of the ministry’s Strategic Planning and Budgeting Unit, within the Corporate Services Branch. The unit plays a central role in delivering key components of The Government of Saskatchewan’s Planning and Accountability Management System (PAMS) for the ministry. It is responsible for developing and delivering a broad range of strategic and operational planning functions, including strategic planning, the annual business plan, scorecards, enterprise risk management, business improvement, program review, business continuity planning, workforce planning, budget development, and monthly forecast processes.
About the opportunity
As the Manager of Planning and Performance, this position leads a small team dedicated to conducting program (strategic) reviews, workforce planning, business continuity, continuous improvement initiatives, innovation, performance measurement, and enterprise risk management. The position also involves working as part of a cross-functional team with opportunities to contribute to strategic planning and reporting. This role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders to strategically develop, implement, and monitor business improvement initiatives across the ministry.
We are seeking a candidate who excels in taking initiative, motivating others, and enjoys working on strategic projects to bring about positive outcomes. The ideal candidate is flexible, enjoying variety in their work while learning about the many different parts of the ministry and how they work together to provide quality service.
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Planning and Budgeting, the ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. They will have the ability to lead and conduct in-depth research and analysis and provide evidence-based recommendations on the effectiveness of ministry programs and services. The candidate will also demonstrate the ability to manage change and navigate processes by working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders with varying interests.
This integrative role offers the opportunity to apply and expand working knowledge of The Government of Saskatchewan’s Planning and Accountability Management System. Experience in continuous improvement, project management, program evaluation, having strong written communication skills and the ability to facilitate group meetings are essential for success in the role. Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be obtained through the completion of a degree in public administration, business administration, or a related discipline, supplemented by public sector experience in the fields of improvement and innovation work, strategic planning, business or workforce planning. A combination of experience and education will be considered for this position. This position is based in Regina. A small amount of travel may be required.
