Summary
As we grow, we’re looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our Richmond team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you’ll lead our financial reporting and accounting operations with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement. This role is ideal for a CPA-designated professional with a strong background in manufacturing, cost accounting, and team leadership, who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
This is a hybrid position—work onsite Monday to Thursday, with the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays.
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
- Prepare, consolidated and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements delivering on-time and accurate reporting
- Ensure compliance with ASPE standards and internal policies through proactive technical research delivering zero non-conformances in annual external audit
- Manage and deliver on-time and accurate month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Conduct technical accounting research and prepare memo documentation
- Lead & present month-end P&L reviews and balance sheet analysis meetings while preparing monthly journals and reconciliations
Accounting Operations
- Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of transactions.
- Strengthen internal controls, with a focus on continuous improvement, risk mitigation, and audit best practices.
- Ensure accurate and efficient accounting for manufacturing operations, including costing, inventory valuation, and revenue recognition.
- Identify process improvement opportunities, particularly within manufacturing workflows, inventory management, and cost accounting practices.
Audit & Risk Management
- Play a key role in the external audit by preparing working papers, supporting audit requests, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. All audit PBCs submitted by deadline; no significant audit findings
- Identify key financial and operational risks and implement mitigation plans
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, documentation standards, and audit trails
Staff Supervision & Development
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, develop and lead a high-performance team
- Conduct quarterly performance check-ins while fostering a learning and growth environment
- Perform any other duties as assigned by direct supervisor and the executive team.
Qualifications
- CPA designation required, with strong knowledge of ASPE
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role
- Solid experience in financial reporting, consolidations, and external audit support
- Background in cost accounting, inventory, and manufacturing-related operations
- Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., BC 365, NetSuite, SAP) and advanced Excel skills
- Strong understanding of internal controls, audit processes, and technical accounting research
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight deadlines
Nice to Have:
- Experience in a manufacturing or product-based environment
- Familiarity with revenue recognition and cost accounting in manufacturing
- Exposure to continuous improvement practices (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma)
