Position Summary
Temporary Full-time Administrative Replacement Contract Position (Immediate need to April 5, 2027)
The Manager, Custom Training Solutions is accountable for providing leadership to support staff, part-time teachers, students, and partners/clients for courses, workshops, bootcamps, and fee-for-service development activities. The successful candidate is accountable for researching, planning, developing, delivering, selling, and marketing public workshops, bootcamps, and custom training for organizations. The position is responsible for managing operations for custom training and external initiatives, generating revenue, and delivering a profit to contribute to the bottom line of the College through innovative training solutions. The Manager, Custom Training Solutions is expected to be cutting edge with respect to local and provincial workforce needs as they relate to workforce development initiatives, and to keep Conestoga College abreast of leading-edge future trends in this area.
Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with two days on-site at the Cambridge campus located at 96 Grand Ave., and three days remote.
Responsibilities
- Manage business operations and customer success by coordinating the development, implementation, and marketing (sales) of custom courses, bootcamps, workshops, and programs that align with evolving technologies, trends, best practices, economic factors, and industry needs
- Collaborate with the Director of Custom Training Solutions to create a sales, marketing, and digital promotion plan with measurable targets aimed at generating significant revenue for the College
- Develop and expand partnership programs (e.g., healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing), providing guidance on custom training solutions to meet industry demands; Ensure high-quality curriculum and delivery by working closely with academic schools, Business Developers, and Research Centres at Conestoga College
- Work collaboratively across Conestoga College and with external partners to support the Research, Innovation & Entrepreneurship team in identifying trends and planning new part-time training opportunities, including recommendations for lab and equipment requirements
- Build industry relationships by representing the College to community groups and professional associations in custom training and development through participating in and/or facilitating meetings and events to promote the Custom Training Solutions department
- Recruit, lead, manage, and mentor curriculum developers, part-time instructors, and support staff within the Custom Training Solutions department
- Address and manage student participant issues as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, social sciences, education or a related field of study
- Minimum five years of practical related experience in training operations required
- Leading-edge knowledge in current and new workforce development trends required
- Project Management skills to lead operations for funded initiatives required
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Suite, digital media and presentation software
- Experience responding to requests for proposals (RFP’s) preferred
- Corporate training and continuing education experience preferred
- Demonstrated superior presentation, writing and business relations experience
- Digital media and marketing expertise
- Training material development experience
- Online learning knowledge preferred
- Demonstrated budget management and revenue generation to meet expectations
- Experience in College program administration and development
- Strong interpersonal skills that allow for relationship building both within the College and with outside organizations and clients
- Demonstrated high level of customer service, problem management and project management skills
- Ability to multi-task, work in a self-directed and team environment, and adapt to change
- Contacts with business and professional associations and institutes an asset
