Role As a YugabyteDB Support Engineer, you will be a trusted technical advisor to our customers, guiding them to success with our database. You will be a crucial part of our global support team, providing exceptional service to our enterprise clients. This role is ideal for a tech-savvy individual with a passion for problem-solving and a deep understanding of distributed databases and Unix-like systems.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with enterprise customers to troubleshoot, replicate, and resolve complex technical issues.
- Become a technical expert in YugabyteDB, its architecture, and its ecosystem.
- Provide an exceptional customer experience through timely and effective communication.
- Act as a customer advocate, collaborating with our engineering and product teams to resolve bugs and enhance the product.
- Develop and contribute to our internal and external knowledge base, including documentation and best practice guides.
- Participate in a follow-the-sun, on-call rotation to provide support for critical customer issues.
- Manage and prioritize a queue of support tickets, ensuring timely resolution and customer satisfaction.
- Administer and troubleshoot Unix/Linux environments as they relate to YugabyteDB deployments.
Required Experience

You have a strong background in databases, with a preference for distributed databases like YugabyteDB, CockroachDB, or Apache Cassandra.

You possess solid experience as a System Administrator for Unix/Linux environments.

Required Skills:
-
Experience in a customer-facing technical support role.
-
Proficiency with SQL and database administration concepts.
-
Strong sysadmin skills in Unix/Linux, including shell scripting (Bash, Python).
-
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
-
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
-
Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

Ideal Candidate:

Has hands-on experience with YugabyteDB.
-
Possesses experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible.
-
Demonstrates a genuine passion for open-source technology.

Is a proactive, independent learner who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
We feel strongly about equal pay for equal work, and transparency in compensation is one way to help achieve that. The cash compensation for this role is market competitive, with a range of CAD $90,000 - $125,000, as well as equity (when applicable), and benefits including health plans, retirement plans, and unlimited paid time off (PTO). Some roles include variable/incentive compensation, or a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. The pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. The actual pay will vary based on factors including experience, qualifications, skill level.
