Junior Software Engineer – LLM Comparisons

Location: Remote (U.S., Canada, UK, or India)

Type: Hourly contract (independent contractor)

Compensation: $40 – $60/hour

Start Date: June 30, 2025

Time Commitment: 15–20 hours/week, with potential to scale to 30

Duration: 2–3 weeks, with possibility of extension

About the Role

This project supports the development of generative AI systems by helping evaluate and improve large language model (LLM) outputs. As a Junior Software Engineer , your work will focus on assessing the quality of LLM responses and supporting the infrastructure that powers AI model comparisons.

The role is fully remote and flexible. A short 15-minute interview is part of the selection process, and most decisions are made within two days of completing the assessment.

What Makes You a Good Fit

You’re likely a strong candidate if you:

  • Have 1+ years of engineering experience at a startup, hedge fund, Fortune 500 company, or similar environment
  • Hold a Computer Science degree from a university in the U.S., Canada, UK, or India
  • Have worked across multiple programming environments (e.g., C++, Python, Java, React, Pandas, Matplotlib, Flutter, Rust )
  • Show a high level of attention to detail and structured problem-solving
  • Communicate clearly, both in writing and speech

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and compare LLM outputs to determine accuracy, quality, and usefulness
  • Understand and work within the constraints of reinforcement learning-based evaluation environments
  • Deliver reliable and high-quality feedback that directly informs how AI systems are trained

Work Structure

  • 15–20 hours/week , with the option to go up to 30 depending on performance and availability
  • Fully remote and asynchronous — work on your own schedule
  • Initial commitment of 2–3 weeks , with opportunity to extend

Compensation and Contract Details

  • $40–$60/hour , depending on experience and role fit
  • Role is part of a larger project — you'll be assigned to a team upon offer
  • You’ll be engaged as an independent contractor
