About the role
Adams Lake Indian Band is seeking Custodian - Early Learning Center to work under the direction of the Adams Lake Band’s Le7 r knucten (Good Helper) or designate. The individual’s main responsibility will be to clean and maintain the Adams Lake Indian Band’s Early Learning Center, kitchen and other buildings as required, to maintain a professional sanitary condition. Under the minimal supervision the incumbent is responsible for sanitizing, cleaning, and maintenance of assigned areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Adams Lake Indian Band policies and procedures
- Ensures proper cleaning and sanitization of building's floors, mats, walls, benches, washrooms, windows, rugs, desks, counters, lighting fixtures, cupboards, doors, sinks, toilet bowls, kitchen and appliances
- Perform daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules
- Replace paper towels, toilet tissue and soap dispensers as required
- Operates industrial vacuum cleaners and to remove dirt, heavy debris and refuse
- Empties trash cans and other waster containers appropriately
- Sweeps, mops scrub, strip, wax, and polish floors
- Washes windows, interior walls and fixtures
- Maintains and orders an adequate inventory of cleaning supplies and PPE
- Must be able to utilize appropriate PPE and equipment as required
- Maintains the work area in a clean and professional manner
- Addresses or redirects inquiries, complaints and concerns, providing information as required
- Other assigned job-related duties
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS
- Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Good housekeeping skills
- Knowledge and use of industrial cleaning equipment
- Good communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Physically capable of repetitive movements lifting, kneeling, bending up to 30lbs
- Flexibility is a must to adapt to changing work priorities
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Diplomacy, tact and confidentiality in dealing with a variety of people and information
- Reliability and dependability
- Ability to work independently and as a team player
- Flexibility is a must to adapt to changing work priorities
- Good judgement and problem-solving skills must be exercise at all times
- Continuous learning
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to stand for long periods of time, bend, crouch and kneel as required. Required to push, move, lift or pull equipment or furniture ranging from 20-40lbs as necessary to complete duties.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Majority of the work will be performed in a typical office setting with some requirements of external maintenance. i.e. shoveling, sweeping walkways

Personal Protection Equipment
Dispensers (paper towel, toilet paper, soap)
Vacuum, broom, shovel, mop
Heavy duty floor polisher as required
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
WHIMIS Certification
BONA FIDE JOB REQUIREMENTS
Current Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector clearance, with results acceptable to ALIB
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Part time permanent position
Wage range: $22-$24 per hour
Location: 6430 Village Rd Chase BC, V0E1M0
Hours per week: up to a maximum 55 hours biweekly with flexibility in hours/days of work.
