Job Profile Under the supervision of the Clerk C, the Clerk A is responsible for customer service – in-person and on the phone; processing of pet licenses; data entry; performing cash/credit transactions; typing; processing mail; filing and performing other related duties as assigned. This position must be willing to be a member of the team and to learn and thrive in an entrepreneurial workplace.
As The Clerk A, You Will
- Processes pet licenses in the Agency’s data base including taking and reconciling payment.
- Provides receptionist duties at the Animal Services Agency front counter.
- Answers telephone calls, answers questions and processes requests.
- Type letters, reports, and other correspondence as required.
- Processes incoming and outgoing mail as required.
- Operates office equipment.
- Maintains Agency's general files and inventory as required.
- Performs other duties related to the classification as assigned.
Your Education And Qualifications Include
- High School graduation with formal training in business and office procedures or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to type accurately at 40 w.p.m.
- Demonstrated basic proficiency in the use of Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public, in varying circumstances, both in person and over the telephone.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, in accordance with the Respectful Workplace Policy.
- Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
- Ability to handle cash accurately and perform accurate mathematical calculations.
- Ability to maintain electronic and Agency files accurately.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of office equipment.
- Ability to work in an animal care and kenneling facility.
- Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Have demonstrated acceptable attendance and job performance relevant to this position.
- IMPORTANT: Applicants who have been educated outside of Canada must have education which is comparable to the minimum qualification in Canada.
