About the role

Administrator - Vulcan Prairieview Elementary School

The Palliser School Division invites highly motivated educators, who have demonstrated exceptional leadership to apply for the position of Principal at Vulcan Prairieview Elementary School. The position will begin on August 2 5 , 2025, or on a mutually agreed date. The successful candidate will possess a clear vision for student learning, a deep understanding of effective research-based pedagogy, a commitment to collaborative leadership, a solid understanding of school improvement processes, and sensitivity to community needs.

Located in the Town of Vulcan and supporting students from Kindergarten to Grade 6, Vulcan Prairieview Elementary School serves students from the town of Vulcan and surrounding areas. A vibrant community of learners, passionate about creating an educational environment in which every student can succeed, VPES strives to foster the virtues of trust, respect, responsibility, family, and caring in our daily lives.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Education or a related field (or in the process of obtaining one)
  • Valid Alberta Leadership Quality Standard (LQS) Certification, or eligibility for same
  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • Exemplary teaching and administrative experience
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Commitment to establishing positive working relationships with staff, parents, and community partners
  • Commitment to establishing partnerships and is knowledgeable about indigenous cultures, traditions and values
  • Experience in multi-grade level classrooms
  • Willingness to explore innovative approaches to learning
  • Student-focused leader, dedicated to excellence in student learning in an inclusive environment
  • Ability to provide effective leadership which fosters innovation, collaboration, respect and trust
  • Ability to work in partnership with parents and other stakeholders to support student growth and development
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Conditions of Employment

In order to maintain a safe and secure working environment, applicants new to The Palliser School Division must provide:

  • Criminal Record Check, including vulnerable sector check from Local Police Service or RCMP detachment
  • Clean Child Intervention Record Check (IRC) issued by the Alberta Government
  • Social Insurance Number (SIN) card or document issued by Service Canada. SIN card/document must be in current legal name. Name on SIN card/document must match your Government Issued ID and Criminal Record Check
  • Government issued ID - valid driver's license, valid passport or Nexus card

About Palliser School Division

The Palliser Regional Schools is a school jurisdiction located in southern Alberta. The geographical area stretches from just south of Lethbridge to the Bow River south of Calgary. Palliser Centre houses the Central Office Administration, Maintenance and Transportation Services and is located in the City of Lethbridge. In addition, a satellite Maintenance Shop has been set up in the Town of Vulcan. The division offers full public education services to approximately 8,1000 students from early childhood services through Grade 12. Palliser has 15 community schools, 17 Hutterian colony schools, 10 Christian alternative schools, nine of which are in Calgary on seven different campuses, four outreach programs, an online school, and two dedicated Low German Mennonite alternative programs. One of our outreach schools and a junior high in one of our community schools also serve the LGM community.
