Your Opportunity
In accordance with Letter of Understanding #1 – Student Employees, and under direct supervision, the student employee supports basic operations of Learning Commons and Library spaces.
Functions and Duties
Under supervision, the Library & Learning Commons Assistant will perform the following duties:

Basic maintenance of the library collection, including re-shelving library materials and reading and sorting library materials into call number order.

Assist students with basic navigation and access to the College’s online services, learning management system, and student portals.

Pick-up library materials from desks and tables
-
Follow health and safety procedures outlined by regular staff members
-
Maintain limited services at the circulation or help desk in the absence of a regular staff member
-
Tidy library and learning commons spaces and maintain cleanliness of student workstations, and public desk areas.

Ensure proper care of computers and equipment
-
Provide basic printing assistance and maintenance, including replacing laser printer toner and paper
-
Provide student ID cards based on established procedures
-
Count and record the number of people using library and learning commons spaces at specified times, record gate counts.

Take regular inventory of supplies and equipment related to regular duties
-
Provide written or verbal reports of any problems with equipment or usage, for follow-up by regular staff.

Basic end of shift duties such as turning off monitors and clearing people of physical spaces, in the absence of a regular staff member

Education and Experience
Must be currently enrolled as a student at Okanagan College.
Previous library, IT, or customer service experience is considered an asset.
