Job Summary
We are currently hiring for a Part Time Rehabilitation Assistant to join our Long Term Care team at Mountain View Manor - Delta Hospital located in Delta, B.C.
Detailed Overview
The Rehabilitation Assistant supports the Physiotherapist and/or Occupational Therapist by assisting designated patients with assigned rehabilitative activities.
Responsibilities
- Assists patients with established rehabilitative activities such as mobility and strengthening exercises, walking programs, hydrapool program, and activities of daily living as directed. Demonstrates to patients the use of prescribed treatment/adaptive devices such as braces, wheelchairs, walkers, and modified eating utensils and personal care items.
- Monitors patient response during activities and reports observations of patients' behaviour and progress to the Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist. Communicates concerns and/or changes in patients' condition.
- Assists patients in dressing and toilet needs as required in preparation for and following rehabilitative treatment; assists with patient lifting/transfers and positioning as directed.
- Transports patients to and from rehabilitative treatments utilizing mechanical aids such as wheelchairs and stretchers.
- Sets up and organizes furnishings and equipment for related activities as directed; cleans and maintains equipment and reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff. Maintains work area in a safe and orderly condition.
- Maintains the inventory of equipment, devices and materials; assists in the ordering process following established guidelines.
- Records and maintains statistics such as patients' participation and workload information.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Completion of a Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal effectively with others.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
