Job Description:
The Solutions Engineer plays a critical role in providing technical expertise and support to the sales team, ensuring that all customer technical requirements are met to advance and close sales opportunities.
This role serves as a key resource for customer presentations, product demonstrations, and the introduction of new features or applications. The Solutions Engineer bridges the gap between sales, customers, and technical teams, ensuring a seamless experience throughout the sales cycle and becomes a trusted advisor for our customers and to our sales Team.
As a Solution Engineer, you must understand technology and especially concepts of POS, Data Integration, Marketing Tools (Loyalty and Promotions).
Responsibilities:
Sales Support & Customer Engagement
- Analyze and document customers’ operational and functional needs to tailor solutions effectively.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, identifying their needs via Discovery Calls, and aligning them with company solutions.
- Conduct technical demonstrations and presentations for prospects and customers to support the sales team. Translate technology into business languages.
- Provide technical guidance to the sales team, assisting with customer inquiries, proposal development, and Statements of Work (SOWs).
- Attend customer handoff meetings to ensure smooth transitions post-sale.
Technical Expertise & Market Awareness
- Maintain a deep understanding of SMS software, value-added tools, and the overall POS market for SMB and Enterprise customers.
- Stay informed about market trends, industry best practices, and competitive products to enhance solution offerings.
- Attend vendor meetings, webinars, and training sessions to stay updated on new technologies and industry changes.
- Keep the sales team informed of technology advancements and competitive insights.
Collaboration & Process Improvement
- Work cross-functionally with sales, technical teams, and project management to ensure seamless solution delivery.
- Participate in internal meetings, committees, and training courses to enhance collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
- Establish strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders, fostering trust and long-term partnerships.
Requirements
Experience: Minimum of 2+ years in sales support, sales engineering, or solutions engineering, with experience in providing technical support to a sales team. Knowledge of retail grocery business or POS systems is a plus.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technology, or a related field preferred; or equivalent experience.
Technical & Industry Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of computer operations and technical sales processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with CRM tools (Salesforce, ConnectWise, NAV, etc.).
- Familiarity with SMS software, ACE, and other related products is highly desirable.
- Awareness of competitive products and industry trends.
Strong communication skills: excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to present technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
Customer-centric approach: ability to build relationships and establish trust with clients.
Organizational and multitasking abilities: ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment. Maintain composure and efficiency in high-stress situations.
Problem-solving mindset: analytical thinker with the ability to adapt to unforeseen customer requests.
Project management skills: ability to manage and coordinate technical aspects of the sales cycle.
Team collaboration: works well independently and within a team, fostering a partnership approach with sales and technical teams.
Language: English; proficiency in French or Spanish will be a strong asset.
