The Department of Athletics and Recreation is searching for a self-motivated, positive individual for the position of Athletics Event Lead – Arena & Tournament Sports. This position is a temporary full-time position that reports to the Athletics Operations Supervisor.
The NAIT Department of Athletics and Recreation has established a “Tradition of Excellence” that positions the Ooks among the most outstanding programs in Canada. A founding member of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference, NAIT fields teams in the sports of Badminton, Basketball, Cross-Country, Curling, Futsal, Golf, Hockey, Indoor Track, Soccer, and Volleyball. As a key member of the Athletics and Recreation Department, the Athletics Event Lead will work closely with the varsity head coaches and administrative staff to provide an exceptional experience for NAIT student-athletes.
The successful candidate is a nimble learner who instills trust through effective communication and collaboration. They are action-oriented and demonstrate quality decision-making abilities
Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate all varsity home events for arena and tournament sports; including the hiring, training and supervision of casual student staff.

Lead department internal events, which include awards night, scholarship golf tournament, and a committee member for student-athlete orientation.

Coordinate summer sport camps, which include badminton, basketball, hockey, and volleyball.

Coordinate department fundraising and sponsorship initiatives.

Support the enhancement of the overall student-athlete experience.

Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
Skills & Abilities:
-
Ability to establish strong working relationships both internally and externally.
-
Highly organized and responsive, with keen attention to detail.
-
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
-
Knowledge of the ACAC and CCAA preferred.
Qualifications:
-
Completion of Grade twelve.
-
Related post-secondary diploma or certificate is preferred.
-
3-5 years’ experience working in post-secondary athletics and event coordination.
-
Valid Alberta Driver’s license.
-
Equivalencies may be considered.
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: $48,257.04 - $62,451.48 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – Administrative Support V)
This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
