About the role

Looking for a weekend job that keeps you active, outdoors, and surrounded by pets?
You might be the next Dog Jogger & Pet Care Pro on our team!

We’re Dog Jogs, a pet care company built around reliability, teamwork, and the joy of seeing tails wag. If you’re the kind of person who doesn’t mind early mornings, loves a mix of fresh air and furry cuddles, and is looking for consistent weekend work (with a weekday or two thrown in), this might be your dream job.

What’s the role really like?

Picture this: you hop in your car, podcast playing, heading to your first jog of the day. The sun’s out (or maybe it’s lightly snowing, this is Edmonton, after all). Your schedule takes you around the city spending the next few hours jogging dogs, visiting cats, and sending updates to their grateful humans. Maybe you help a reactive dog make progress, get a shy cat to come out of the shell or maybe you hit a personal best on a run. Either way, you’re part of a team that backs each other up and works independently with confidence.

This could be a great fit if you:

  • Are active and love being outdoors in all seasons
  • Thrive in a role that gives you freedom, variety, and cuddles
  • Can handle change and curveballs without spiralling
  • Like being the person others count on (reliable is your middle name)
  • Are great at managing your own time and solving problems on the fly
  • Want to grow your skills (we do training, reactivity work, and more!)
  • Are in it for at least a year, not just for now

The nitty-gritty:

  • Weekend availability is required: Saturdays and Sundays, 9am–5pm
  • 1–2 weekday shifts would be a plus, choosing from: 9am–2pm, 10am–3pm, or 11am–4pm shifts.
  • Pay starts at $15/hr + tips, with most weekend staff earning $300-$500/month, depending on shifts
  • Must be able to jog at 6–10km/hr and walk 3–10km/day
  • Must have a reliable vehicle and smartphone with data
  • Must be 18+, legally eligible to work in Canada, and provide a clear police check
  • Service areas include Edmonton, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Ardrossan, and Beaumont

What you’ll get:

  • A supportive team (even on weekends—Slack is always open)
  • Part-time hours with variety in your day
  • Fresh air, fitness, and furballs rolled into one role
  • The chance to build relationships—with both pets and their people
  • Training and growth opportunities, especially if you’re eager to learn about reactivity, enrichment, or pet first aid

Where this role can take you:
We’re not just hiring for the season. We’re looking for people who want to stick around, grow with us, and maybe even take on more responsibility down the road.

After your 3-month probation, if you're working at least 3 days a week and things are going well, there's the opportunity to become a Head Jogger, a role that includes training new staff, answering questions, and helping keep everyone on the same page.
Head Joggers receive a pay bump to reflect the added responsibility.

At the 6-month mark, if you're working 4+ days a week, you may be eligible to step into a Team Lead role. Team Leads juggle a bit of everything: they continue with pet care, support new and current staff, give feedback, assist with scheduling, and reply to client messages when needed. Team Leads also receive a pay increase.

If you're the type who naturally steps up, enjoys helping others succeed, and wants to build something long-term, we’d love to help you grow with us.

How to apply:
Apply below with your resume and complete our short application. Be sure to list your specific availability, including weekend availability (Saturdays and Sundays from 9–5), and which weekday shift(s) you can commit to.

We review applications within 2 business days, then send a few follow-up questions, ask for a short video, and set up an interview. If it's a match, you'll be invited to a working interview, where the real fun (and furry greetings) begins.
