Description Located out of our Sherwood Park field office the Engineer, Field Operations will report to the Manager, Operations Engineering. The successful candidate is a professional role in the Operations Engineering group and supports Inter Pipeline’s strategies to ensure the safe, compliant and reliable operation of all assets, to aggressively manage operating expenses and to ensure the successful completion of construction projects. The Engineer, Field Operations will also provide engineering support to Inter Pipeline’s Conventional and Long-Haul Field Operations as required.
Key Activities And Responsibilities
- Scope out projects, including the identification and evaluation of alternatives, prepare cost estimates, and make recommendations on preferred solutions
- Ensure relevant stakeholders are notified and involved in proposed changes
- Coordinate and manage field inspectors, contractors and other vendors as required
- Provide engineering expertise for equipment, day-to-day operations and maintenance of the pipeline systems
- Respond to field, management, and technical requests as required
- Coordinate and manage small management of change (MOC) projects
Education, Skills And Experience
- Engineering degree (preferably mechanical) and registration with APEGA (and APEGS an asset) as a Professional Engineer required
- 5 or more years of related industry experience
- Demonstrated project management skills (planning, cost and scope tracking and reporting)
- Knowledgeable in current operating standards, codes, rules, and regulations that relate to process engineering and pipeline facility design
- Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Self driven and motivated with ability to manage and support multiple projects at the same time
Hours Full time permanent
Approximately 30% travel within the northern Alberta region (mostly day trips)
