About the role

Job Description We are currently searching for a Transportation Engineer-in-Training in our Calgary office.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic team active on transportation projects with a focus on highways, roads, bridges and transportation-related infrastructure. This position will present many opportunities on a variety of tasks and our expectation will be for the candidate to develop proficient skills in all areas of project delivery, including construction inspection, shop drawings, submittals, specifications, contract documents, cost estimates, and preparing designs.

As the ideal candidate, you have a passion for transportation engineering, while being an excellent communicator with effective organizational skills and leadership potential, who thrives in a dynamic work environment. Your abilities will be strengthened and grown through a range of projects focused on the delivery and management of transportation in Alberta. You will have the opportunity to develop a career path focused on technical leadership, project management, client management, or a combination based on your career aspirations and qualifications.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Construction site monitoring and inspections as required to monitor the contractor’s progress, workmanship, and general conformance with the contract documents.
  • Preparing clear and concise project reports, field notes, sketches, memorandums, and other project support documentation.
  • Supporting contract administration activities.
  • Construction submittal reviews and workflows.
  • Communicating with the client and contractor.

Job Requirements

What you will bring:

  • Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution, with key transportation electives or transportation project experience.
  • Registered, or eligible for registration as an Engineer-In-Training with APEGA.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Committed team player and the ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel within Alberta.
