Position Summary
The Batcher is instrumental in the manufacturing process of all chemicals from start to finish. Responsibilities include receiving raw materials, material handling and moving of product within the plant to the machines. The primary job function is batching of products using raw materials into our finished products. The Batcher ensures that both safety and quality are paramount.
Key Accountabilities
Receiving & Material Handling (comprises 40% of workload)
- Receive raw materials and store and use raw material using F.I.F.O
- Match documentation with information on physical raw materials
- Select raw materials from stock to supply the tanks
Batching (comprises 55% of workload)
- Verify materials and quantities needed according to production order for the batch
- Work with secondary batcher to properly mix the chemicals according to the formula
- Upon completion of the cycle provide a sample QA

- If required modify the batch per QA specs
- Clean the tanks according to chemicals used for batch
Support Other Manufacturing Functions (comprises 5% of workload)
- Assist in all other tasks in department as needed including filling in for attendance vacancies
- Help maintain clean and tidy work areas in batching and within the manufacturing facility
- Communicate any shortages or issues with materials to the Production Manager
Safety Excellence (compromises 100%)
- Follow Health & Safety guidelines and other Standard Operating Procedures
- Work in a safe manner and strive for zero work related incidents
- Understand and follow safety practices/procedures and WHMIS
- Operate Reach Truck and Tow Motor in accordance with training certification guidelines.
Education & Experience Required
- High school graduation diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working in manufacturing; preferred candidates have worked in a similar positions related to chemical manufacturing processes, or machine operator roles
Technical Skills and Competencies
- Preferred candidates will have 2+ years of demonstrated experience working in a manufacturing environment in a similar role with previous Tow Motor experience
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety best practices related to Receiving, Warehouse and Manufacturing environments, with knowledge of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS)
- Reading and math skills for calculating formulas is essential, coupled with strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively, & positively express and identify problems to the Production Manager
- Team player with the willingness to move to different areas of the manufacturing process as needed
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
The position works within the manufacturing and warehouse areas. The environment at times may be noisy and hot during summer months. There is regular exposure to scents from chemicals.
Physical demands of the position require standing, and moving product, including physically moving product using push/pulling force and frequent lifting of product. Concentration is needed in operating batching machinery, Tow Motor and other equipment.
Work Arrangement : Onsite
Pay Range: $21.00 - $24.00 [per hour]
