About the role

OVERVIEW

The Oncology, Renal and Ambulatory Care portfolio at Michael Garron Hospital (MGH) is an outpatient portfolio looking to develop a strategy for ambulatory care over the next 2-3 years. This team’s leadership, in addition to Clinical Operational leaders and close collaboration with Medical Leaders, will include a new Project Manager, Ambulatory Care. who will collaborate with leaders across the hospital to develop the Ambulatory Care Strategy.

Goals for the first year include:

  • Current state assessment of all medical, surgical ,oncology, hematology and renal clinics to understand patient population, referral criteria and processes, clinical workflows, patient experience, and quality and safety.
  • External scan of other organization’s hospital-based clinic strategies, policies and procedures.
  • Standardizing workflows in ambulatory care - e.g., booking processes, triage, referrals, standards of care, etc.
  • Collaboration across MGH and in particular with our eChart team on workflow and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) optimizations needed for Ambulatory Care, Oncology and Renal programs as MGH implements Ambulatory Care module of our EMR

  • Leadership of other related projects as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Master’s Degree (completed or in progress) in Health or Business Administration or Engineering with minimum 3 years’ experience in health care.

  • Clinical or Engineering Bachelor’s degree preferred, with data & analytics education or experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in health care with project management, change management, and/or leadership experience.
  • Previous experience in large scale strategic project implementation.
  • Very strong communication skills, including relationship-building and management with internal and external partners, senior leaders, technical experts, clinicians and patient-facing staff.
  • Experience in outpatient care – clinically, or in a project/leadership role – is preferred.
  • Experience with andknowledge of hospital electronic medical records strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated skills in meeting facilitation, collaborating with and leading diverse cross-departmental teams comprised of staff and leaders.
  • Strong presentation skills required; experience presenting/reporting to senior leaders an asset.
  • Excellent writing skills e.g., briefing notes, reports.
  • Very fast learner, comfort with ambiguity, displays creativity, values innovation.
  • Flexibility in working pace and hours to meet tight timelines when needed, able to independently manage work schedule, hours and time to meet project demands while taking responsibility for work-life balance. Comfortable clearly communicating needs to Director.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products, project planning software/tools, data & analytics systems, and/or ability to self-teach
  • Maintain close working relationship with Director, comfortable negotiating and sharing work tasks aligned to skillsets and professional development goals.
  • Good work and attendance record required.
