Position Overview: Accounting Manager
As an Senior Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for contributing to day-to-day operations of the accounting department, managing client engagements, and providing strategic tax and financial guidance. You’ll work closely with a team of accounting professionals, ensure high-quality service delivery, and with clients on complex accounting, tax planning, and compliance matters.
This role requires strong technical expertise in Canadian tax and accounting standards, and a passion for helping both clients and team members succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-cycle accounting engagements, including compilations (Notice to Reader), year-end financial statements, and tax filings
- Review and file complex personal (T1), trust (T3), and corporate (T2) income tax returns
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies for a variety of clients, including farm and small business owners
- Maintain strong client relationships and act as a primary contact for key accounts
- Monitor compliance with regulatory standards and ensure best practices are followed
- Collaborate with partners and leadership on firm-wide process improvements and client service initiatives
- Leverage technology to streamline operations and enhance client experience
- Participate in business development activities and contribute to strategic growth planning
What You Bring
Education & Experience
- 4 + years of progressive experience in public accounting, including leadership or supervisory experience
- Advanced knowledge of Canadian tax laws (T1, T2, T3) and ASPE, with experience in agriculture preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing client relationships and accounting teams
- Proficiency in accounting software such as CaseWare, Taxprep, Xero, and iFirm
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel
