Your Opportunity
Under the limited supervision of the Dean Careers and Community Engagement , the Careers Hub Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating Co-operative Education and Work Integrated Learning for various programs at the College. The Coordinator is responsible for recruiting employers, managing student, graduate and co-operative education employment opportunities and conducting site visits along with developing, marketing, and promoting study related work placement programs to new and existing local and national employers, professional associations and other institutions.
Functions and Duties

Coordinates Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning for various programs at the College

Works closely with academic departments in supporting the integration between classroom learning, Work Integrated Learning and Co-operative Education

Initiates, builds and maintains employer relationships to develop and promote employment opportunities for students; functions as the primary contact for employers; serves as a liaison between students, faculty and employers regarding requirements for the Co-operative Education program and Work Integrated Learning

Attends professional society and industry trade shows

Advises employers on requirements and availability of government funding

Markets employment opportunities to current and graduating students; develops marketing strategies for industries and student populations; participates in career fairs and other student recruitment events

Advises students on Co-operative Education guidelines and procedures; assesses eligibility for Co-operative Education placement.

Uses client-relationship management software to maintain a database (current and historical) on employers and student placements and to market Co-operative Education and Work Integrated Learning

Designs, prepares and delivers information sessions and pre-employment training workshops

Coaches and assists students to find academic-related work; checks resumes and cover letters, conducts mock interviews and provides one-on-one guidance and assistance

Conducts site visits for students on Co-operative Education work terms, locally, provincially or nationally either in-person or via phone or video chat

Evaluates student performance in the workplace to ensure they are meeting employer needs

Maintains involvement in professional associations in the areas of co-operative and career education

Liaises with various departments and faculty members and supports and participates in employment related activities of the program

Approves final Co-operative Education class list; provides final grade and returns list to the Registrar’s Office

Works with international students seeking to acquire Canadian work experience while studying in Canada. Ensures international students have pre-employment information and the appropriate employment documentation (e.g. passport, study permit/work permit)

Performs other related duties as required
Education and Experience
Graduation from a four year university program or equivalent in a related area required. Over 4 years relevant experience required. Must hold a valid BC driver’s licence.
Skills and Abilities

Must have strong organizational and problem solving skills

Excellent computer skills with proficiency using Microsoft Office

Outstanding public speaking and presentation skills

Able to work both independently and within a team environment

Able to travel

Annual Salary/Hourly Rate
$63,827 - $72,927 annually.

Typical hours of work are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. However, due to the nature of this position, flexibility is required. Alternate hours and days, including evenings and weekends, may be necessary to meet operational needs such as events and special activities.
Shortlisted internal candidates must notify the current Support Staff Bargaining Chairperson and People Services if they want a Union Observer during interviews and final selection of candidates.
