Role Description
The Ontario Account Manager will be responsible for growing sales from our existing project pipeline and proactively identifying new opportunities. The Ontario Account Manager will leverage their existing contacts and build new relationships with key stakeholders including municipalities, non-governmental organizations, engineering consultancies, landscape architecture firms, institutional organizations (universities, healthcare, transit agencies) and more to identify and develop new opportunities. This role is focused on growing DeepRoot’s position in the Low Impact Development, Green Infrastructure and related Stormwater management market in Ontario while maintaining and growing the existing relationships and established business in Ontario. The Account Manager will also be responsible for supporting opportunity growth and distributor relationships as needed in Quebec and the Atlantic provinces.
Specific Accountabilities
- Sales Leadership - Ontario: Lead all sales related efforts across Ontario with a primary focus on the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) to meet quarterly and annual sales goals. Responsibilities include educating specifiers, supporting the design processes, tracking projects, providing timely bids, supporting distribution partners and closing the sale with the contractor.
- Solution Provider: Regardless of the customer type – designer, contractor or municipality – your expertise and local support throughout the design and installation of the solution is crucial for long term relationships and sales success.
- Education Outreach: Provide leadership, expertise and support to the consultants through lunch and learn type seminars. Minimum of 60 per year.
- Regional Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to develop a personal connection and point of contact. Understand the unique local and regional challenges of landscape architects, engineers, contractors and Municipal staff and tailor solutions tailored to the specific needs of stakeholders.
- CRM Management: Quality data reporting is critical to your individual and company success. Thoughtful and intentional data collection, reporting and tracking is essential for forecasting, coordination, companywide visibility and sales. We value the data and seek a Sales Manager with a professional approach to the importance of data management.
- Collaborative Approach: Collaborate across the technical team, inside sales, marketing, Distribution and Management to the goal of building a better company and stronger sales. Use the knowledge gained from projects for the optimization of existing products and contribute insights to support the development of new products aligned with market needs and industry trends.
- Time Management: Accountability for time will be critical to your success. As a sales professional you are expected to be organized, efficient and honest about your time management.
- Travel: Some travel locally and other overnight travel will be required. 15% - 20% of your time may be spent on the road. This includes trade shows, training, sales meetings etc.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant experience in a similar role with a minimum of 2 years in a management or leadership role.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, landscape architecture or a related field is a plus. Bilingual in English/French is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and evaluate construction documents, plans, and specifications.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to interpret technical data.
- Collaborative team leadership skills with a proven track record of managing technical teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Results-oriented with a history of meeting or exceeding sales performance targets.
- A collaborative and adaptable approach to problem-solving in green infrastructure.
- Comfortable in a sales role as this position requires advocating for the use and application of the products in a variety of applications. Understanding the subtlety of how the technical role can support the sales roles is critical.
