Continuing on our success and further growth plans, CGC Group of Companies is looking for a Junior SolidWorks Designer (HVAC) to join our team.
CGC Group of Companies is proudly part of the NIBE Climate Solutions Group (Sweden).
We designed and manufactured the first ever Hybrid Heat Pump System in the mid 1990's and now distribute this Canadian system throughout North America. We own and operate two manufacturing facilities in Fergus, Ontario with our Corporate office being in Mississauga, Ontario.
Position Summary:
This position will assist in the design and documentation of HVAC systems, including vertical stack, vertical, and horizontal heat pumps, ERVs (Energy Recovery Ventilators), VariPak Make-Up Air (MUA) Units, and Compax chillers. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals with foundational SolidWorks skills and a keen interest in HVAC product design and technical writing.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Assist in creating 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
- Work under the guidance of senior engineers to design:

Vertical Stack, Vertical, and Horizontal Heat Pumps

MUA Units

Chillers
- Support the maintenance and organization of CAD files and design documentation.
- Help draft and edit:

Installation, Operation, and Maintenance Manuals (IOMs)

Guide Specifications

Technical bulletins and data sheets
- Collaborate with senior staff to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards (ASHRAE, AHRI, UL, etc.)
- Participate in design reviews, training, and team meetings
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Product Development, Manufacturing and Quality Assurance
- Follows all processes and procedures in place and identifies areas for continuous improvement
- Compliance and understanding of all Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedures

Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical Engineering or technical Diploma in Mechanical Design, Drafting, or related field
- 0–2 years of experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
- Prior internship or co-op experience in an HVAC or mechanical design environment is a plus
- Basic proficiency in SolidWorks (assemblies, parts, drawings)
- Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals
- Willingness to learn HVAC systems and technical writing standards
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Exposure to HVAC concepts and system components
- Familiarity with technical documentation such as IOMs or spec sheets
- Experience with document management tools or PDM systems
