Catholic Social Services is currently seeking a full-time 40 hours per week, Housing Program Coordinator in EDMONTON to join our Immigration and Settlement Services team. Job Overview:
The Housing Program Coordinator for the Resettlement Assistant Program plays a vital role in the initial stages of the resettlement of the Government-Assisted Refugees. This role involves a broad spectrum of responsibilities with a significant focus on arrival (welcoming newcomers at the airport - flexible schedule(after-hours arrivals)) and housing support alongside other essential RAP settlement services. These counsellors will place a particular emphasis on arrivals and housing.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate the delivery of program activities geared towards supporting newcomers’ settlement and integration process in Canada (e.g., delivering information sessions, presentations; facilitating client focus groups; etc.)
- Conduct research to identify newcomer needs, trends, challenges, and potential gaps in services.
- Develop opportunities for program development and improvement.
- Keep accurate records and statistics related to program activities.
- Participate in data analysis, report writing, and evaluation.
- Liaise with key community stakeholders to maintain the existing or establish new partnerships and collaboration.
- Engage in program promotional activities.
- Promptly respond to inquiries from clients, staff, volunteers, and the public.
- Perform other related duties as required (e.g., taking meeting minutes).
- Support Government Assisted Refugees in navigating the process of securing permanent by providing individualized housing search assistance and liaising with landlords.
What This Job Requires:
- Diploma/Degree in Education, Human Services or equivalent.
- 2 years' experience working with newcomers to Canada.
- Experience building effective partnerships and collaborations.
- Experience in doing research, working with data, and writing reports.
- Additional relevant certifications or designations considered an asset.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Ability to work collaboratively in diverse team.
- Have access to access to a reliable vehicle and valid driver's license as driving clients is part of the role.
- Police Information Check including vulnerable sector search, and Intervention Record Check current within six (6) months
- Police Information Check including vulnerable sector search, Intervention Record Check and/ or summary of driving record are conditions of employment and the financial responsibility of the candidate.
