About the Role-Job Description

TAG Hardware is looking for a hands-on Assistant Accountant to support our finance operations. Reporting to the Accounting Lead, you’ll play a critical role in maintaining financial accuracy and ERP integrity while ensuring the smooth execution of daily and month-end accounting processes. This position is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in accounting who is dependable, detail-driven, and eager to step into a key support role.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable:

  • Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Match Purchase Orders, Invoices and Receiving reports.
  • Prepare and perform check runs and electronic payments.
  • Reconcile AP transactions and resolve discrepancies with vendors.
  • Assist in month-end related activities related to AP.

Accounts Receivable:

  • Generate and send customer statements.
  • Monitor accounts for incoming payments and follow up on overdue accounts.
  • Maintain up-to-date AR aging reports.
  • Support collections efforts and respond to customer inquiries.

General Accounting Support:

  • Assist with data entry, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.
  • Help with monthly and year-end closings.
  • Support ongoing improvements to accounting workflows and documentation
  • Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed

Education and Experience

  • 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (experience with Syspro preferred)
  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with Google Workspace
  • Highly organized, analytical, and able to meet deadlines under minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with Canadian accounting principles and tax regulations is an asset

Contract Details

Term: 3–6 months (with possibility of extension)

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Compensation: Competitive, based on experience

Location: On-site at TAG Hardware, Surrey, BC
