Overview
Provide exceptional customer service while assisting guests with their needs while attending events at The Aud. Duties include but are not limited to scanning tickets, locating assigned seats, building and city knowledge, answering questions about the event and facility, using good judgement when addressing service and safety issues, assisting your team (ushers, management, security, police, first aid) with enforcing facility rules and regulations, maintaining order and ensuring safety.
Responsibilities
- Greets patrons and scans tickets during events, using an electronic ticket scanner, or collects tickets when necessary.
- Performs bag checks as required.
- Assists patrons in locating assigned seats and settles ticket and seating disputes whenever possible, referring to supervisor as appropriate.
- Answers event and facility questions; directing patrons to service areas.
- Assist staff in enforcing facility rules and regulations by being proactive and alert.
- Awareness of Municipal Alcohol Policy and No Smoking Bylaws.
- Knowledge of City policies, procedures, and documents provided by management, in order to monitor patron behavior during events and provide info as needed.
- Recognizes and takes action to correct and/or report customer service concerns, incidents, problems and emergencies; contact supervisor, security, and emergency personnel as required.
- Resolves effectively and diplomatically irate customer situations where possible, using initiative and reasonable judgement, referring to supervisor as appropriate.
- Guides patrons to exits and provide other instruction or assistance in case of emergency as directed.
- Accepts deployment and shift responsibilities as assigned by Event Coordinator, or members of management team.
- Completes facility event occurrence reports for assigned areas of responsibility, using a City Incident Report when required.
- Picks up dry garbage in assigned area of responsibility. Places garbage in bags and transports to the collection area.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Partial secondary school education with 1 month of related experience including customer service.
- Able to stand, climb stairs and work on your feet and in the public eye for extended periods of time.
- Able to deal with customers tactfully and effectively in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment with frequent interruptions.
- Able to take direction and delegation from management team and applicable staff.
- Able to communicate clearly with customers and answer queries in a timely and accurate fashion, while being able to use multiple resources.
- Able to accept guidance and coaching from the management team, embracing deployment and duties as directed.
- Smart Serve Certification would be considered an asset.
- Able to support and project values compatible with the organization and to participate as an effective team member.
- Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
