About the role

Angular Front-End Engineer (SDE-II)

Location: Ontario, Canada (Hybrid/Remote)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Seniority Level: Intermediate (SDE-II)

🏢 About TurboVets

At TurboVets , we're building technology that makes a tangible difference in the lives of American veterans. We’re a fast-moving, high-ownership team that values honesty, clarity, and momentum. We believe strong product outcomes come from aligned, autonomous contributors who are trusted to take things across the finish line — and who care deeply about what they’re building and why.

👨‍💻 The Role

We’re hiring a front-end engineer with production Angular experience to own the development of interactive, performant UIs across our core platform. You'll be responsible for building out secure workflows, managing UI state, and collaborating closely with product and backend engineers to ship clean, modular features that scale with our growing user base.

This isn’t a “pixel pusher” role. You’ll be hands-on from planning to deployment — helping define UX patterns, ensuring component quality, and thinking critically about performance, state architecture, and end-user experience.

🛠 What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain modern Angular components that power task, user, and admin workflows
  • Implement authenticated user experiences, working with JWT-secured APIs
  • Own UI-side state logic using patterns like RxJS, NgRx, or Akita
  • Collaborate with designers and PMs to turn wireframes into real, testable components
  • Write meaningful unit and integration tests to support long-term maintainability
  • Participate in peer reviews, planning sessions, and architecture discussions
  • Ship improvements in short cycles and iterate on real user feedback
  • Apply styling using TailwindCSS and design system primitives

🧰 Tech Stack

  • Framework: Angular (v10+)
  • Styling: TailwindCSS, SCSS
  • State: RxJS, NgRx, Akita (you choose what fits)
  • Testing: Jest or Karma (we value coverage, not bureaucracy)
  • API: REST (JWT-authenticated)

We use Nx monorepos internally — not required experience, but a plus.

✅ What We're Looking For

Must-Have:

  • 3–5 years of Angular experience in a production setting
  • Proficiency with TypeScript, component-based architecture, and RxJS
  • Experience building authenticated front-end experiences (login flows, token handling)
  • Solid understanding of UI state, modularity, and responsive design principles
  • Experience writing unit/integration tests for frontend code

Nice-to-Have:

  • Familiarity with drag-and-drop libraries, charts, or other dynamic interactions
  • Experience in high-autonomy or startup-like teams
  • Exposure to accessibility, keyboard navigation, or performance tuning
  • Comfort with monorepo tooling like Nx

🌍 Work Environment

This role is primarily remote, but we value collaboration and occasional in-person time across Ontario (GTA, Hamilton, Waterloo, London, etc.). You must be authorized to work in Canada.

💰 Compensation

We offer competitive salary, performance-based bonuses, and a culture of autonomy, not micromanagement. You’ll have flexibility and ownership, and your work will ship to real users fast.

🔎 Our Process

  1. Resume + intro screen
  2. 30-minute video intro
  3. Take-home front-end challenge (focused on real-world UI scenarios)
  4. Final interview + offer discussion

📩 How to Apply

Send us your resume and a short note on why you're interested in TurboVets and this role. We’re looking for builders who take pride in both how they code and why they code.
