Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide HS&E expertise, enhance performance across projects by offering specialized knowledge and developing processes tailored to project needs
- Conduct work area inspections, meet with field supervisors to address potential issues, and ensure adequate safety equipment and supplies are available
- Serve as a resource for HS&E guidance, environmental management, and regulatory compliance for all site stakeholders
- Develop safety procedures, lead training sessions for employees and supervisors, while providing technical support for safety equipment and systems
- Investigate and resolve issues by conducting complex investigations, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Proactively manage risks, evaluate the accuracy and thoroughness of hazard assessments by inspecting sites, reviewing processes, and interviewing team members
- Drive continuous improvement, assess leading and lagging indicator reports, offering actionable recommendations to enhance HS&E performance
- Provide support to site leadership in preparing materials for safety meetings and toolbox talks
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in construction projects, preference will be given to those with on-site industrial, commercial, institutional or residential construction experience
- Experience conducting & leading large investigations
- CRSP, CSO or NCSO designation is an asset
- Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
- Technical knowledge of common construction practices, techniques, and equipment
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of the workforce
- Proactive approach to safety, including identifying issues and implementing solutions
- Proven experience in risk assessment, program development, training, and incident investigation
- Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, with the ability to adapt communication styles to various audiences
Work conditions:
- This is a site-based role located in Winnipeg, MB
- WHMIS 2015, Fall Protection training, and First Aid certification (completed or willingness to obtain) are mandatory
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements
- A valid driver’s license and ability to travel 25% of the time to support projects
