About MakerKids MakerKids runs award-winning STEM programs for kids in Coding, Robotics, and Minecraft . Our mission is to empower the next generation of makers through fun, educational, and hands-on programs. Featured in Wired, CTV, the Globe and Mail, and more, we’re pioneers in helping kids build real-world skills, confidence, and friendships through technology.
Role Overview As the Location Manager , you’ll be responsible for leading and supporting daily operations, with a focus on staff management, scheduling, hiring, location operations, and customer experience . You’ll help build a great team culture, ensure smooth program delivery, and act as a key player in driving the success of our programs.
Hours And Structure
- 35 hours / week
- On-site: 30 hours/week, Monday–Friday, 1–7 PM
- Virtual: 5 hours/week, available for on-call support or project work as needed
- In person summer schedule adjusts to align with camp hours
- Main location: Mississauga (Planned Opening Date: October 1 subject to change)
Responsibilities Staff Management
- Recruit, train, and support a team of instructors.
- Provide guidance during challenging classroom situations.
- Conduct staff performance reviews and give regular feedback.
- Communicate policy updates and team best practices.
- Manage scheduling and step in to teach beginner-level classes when needed.
Operations
- Monitor and adjust class schedules to maximize enrollment and ensure appropriate staffing.
- Manage client bookings and follow-ups.
- Handle routine billing, payments, cancellations, and discounts.
- Coordinate events such as birthday parties, field trips, camps, and special programs.
- Maintain location logistics, inventory, and compliance with safety protocols.
- Troubleshoot basic technical issues.
Customer Relations
- Respond to customer inquiries via email and phone
- Manage inbox with a goal of maintaining “inbox zero.”
- Support class registration, student log-ins, and follow-ups.
- Engage with families before and after classes to build strong relationships.
- Maintain a warm, professional, and positive atmosphere at all times.
Sales, B2B & Marketing Support
- Assist with basic website updates and digital marketing tasks.
- Help with outreach to partners and local businesses.
- Support creation of promotional content.
- Support email campaigns and analytics tracking.
Location Expansion Support
- Set up new locations and coordinate logistics, vendors, and tech readiness.
- Lead local marketing efforts and build partnerships with schools and organizations.
What We’re Looking For
- 5 years working experience in team leadership, operations, or education management.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- A proactive and supportive management style.
- Customer-focused mindset with a friendly, professional approach.
- Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
- Desire to grow in a role.
- Comfortable with light tech troubleshooting (e.g., printers, software logins).
- Basic knowledge in STEM education or is keen to learn our curriculum.
Specific Certifications/Qualifications
- Must be able to work at multiple MakerKids locations including Bloor and Leaside locations as needed.
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C (or willing to obtain).
- Willing to undergo a Vulnerable Sector Check annually.

MakerKids develops maker learning programs for kids and educators, and runs one of the only makerspaces for kids in the world. Our Board of Advisors includes Massimo Banzi (CEO of Arduino).
We provide amazing interest-driven STEM programs to help kids and educators move from being consumers to creators. Our three main offerings are currently: 1) Weekly programs, 2) Camps, and 3) Birthday parties – kids can learn about and do Robotics, Coding and Minecraft. In the past we have done Content and Curriculum Development for clients like Intel and 3D Systems, and Professional Development services for clients such as the Toronto Public Library. We've been featured in major media such as Wired, CTV and the Globe and Mail, and have spoken at SXSW, Maker Faire, MakerCon, and more.
