About the role

Duties

In addition to following McDonald’s policies and procedures, principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop, lead and manage communication strategies (including strategy, planning and content creation) for Strategic Alignment and Inclusion Departments
  • Developing and implementing diversity and inclusion initiatives and programs (including strategy execution, Employee Business Network programing, strategic relationships with external partners and monitoring industry trends)
  • Develop, manage and execute project plans, milestones and resources, for large system meetings and events. Conduct post project analysis and recommend enhancements.
  • Co-lead the development and management of the national calendar.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Franchisees, external vendors, and key internal stakeholders
  • Develop, lead and manage proactive Franchisee communication strategies that drive positive engagement and alignment.
  • Ability to manage complex content and simplify, is very organized, with strong presentation skills and confidence designing materials and presentations.
  • Providing full support for the Director of Alignment and Sr. Director of Inclusion and other members of the Senior Management Team as required.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • McDonald’s brand fan
  • Minimum 1-3 years of Communications experience related to strategy, planning and content creation
  • Minimum 1-2 year of DEI experience related to internal and external strategy and execution
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office products:  Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Outlook, WebEx, Canva, etc.
  • Willing to take on new and evolving challenges and to work together to find solutions
  • Well organized, with excellent multi-tasking and prioritizing skills with the ability to work within tight deadlines while still maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Bachelor's degree or postgraduate certificate in related fields
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership and cross functional teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills combined with an in-depth understanding (or can gain a strong knowledge) of Franchising environment.
  • Expertise in crafting communication materials into relevant, timely and engaging story narratives.
  • A team player with a good attitude and a desire to collaborate as part of an integrated team, while also being independent.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to adjust quickly to change
  • Can work effectively in an environment that requires a high degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to travel within Canada, when required (approx. <15%)
  • Ability to read and write in French would be an asset
