Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview Working as a member of the Health Records Team the incumbent is responsible but not limited to processing which includes sorting and distributing mail and reports and placing reports in Terminal Digit (TD) order, date stamping and filing reports within the health record. Filing and pulling health records. Utilizing computer systems to obtain information necessary to retrieve and file reports & health records and update health record locations.
Experience
- Six (6) months experience in a hospital Health Records Department within the last two years OR.
- One (1) year medical office experience within the last two years.
- Terminal Digital Filing experience required.
- Experience working with both electronic and paper health records preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
- Successful completion of a recognized Medical/Surgical Office Assistant or Health Information Management program preferred.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
SPECIAL TRAINING:
- Terminal Digit (TD) filing required.
- Typing/keyboarding skills (minimum 30 wpm).
- Medical terminology required (pass mark 75%).
- Operational knowledge of computer terminals required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Successful challenge of the CHIMA National Certification examination, with a valid CHIMA certificate, current active CHIMA membership preferred.
Qualifications And Skills
- Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
- Good command of English (oral and written) required.
- Good interpersonal communication skills required.
- Meets deadlines.
- Problem-solves and exercises judgement for decision-making within the scope of the job description.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged physical activities include walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, using a step stool, bending, lifting, and loading/unloading storage boxes/buckets weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Rolling/sliding heavy lateral mobile shelving units.
- Work environment consists of high noise level.
- Frequent interruptions.
- No natural light.
- May entail working alone.
