The Health, Safety and Abilities System (HSAS) Business Analyst acts as a liaison between business partners across the Calgary Police Service (CPS), The City of Calgary and related third parties to define, document and translate ability management business processes and requirements into a concrete health, ability and safety solution. The position adds value to CPS by increasing the overall efficiency of the safety, health and ability data management process and providing business improvement recommendations based on the data collected within the CORITY safety and health suites to support business planning for senior leadership. Primary duties include:

  • Identify and lead CPS wide development, maintenance and continual improvement activities of the Health and Abilities Management System.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to assist business units to implement the health data management system effectively and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with appropriate resources to process issues associated with the application and facilitate a resolution.
  • Support business planning for senior leadership with reliable health and abilities management data reporting and analytics leveraging existing tools ie. Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps.
  • Work directly with stakeholders to facilitate software changes, define the Service needs, facilitate critical fixes and test new releases.
  • Maintain the application tables and files to reflect changes in processes, personnel changes and security access.
  • Assist in the development, coordination and delivery of web-based training to required CPS members.

Qualifications

  • A degree in computer science, business, commerce or environmental health and safety or a related field and a minimum of 5 years industry experience is required.
  • Experience with power platform solutions and data modeling are required.
  • Experience with Power BI, Dax, Power Query, BPMN2.0 and Business process mapping using Visio are required.
  • Experience in database applications using relational database systems such as Oracle and SQL Server is required.
  • Knowledge of process management and web development software such as HTML, .Net and C# is also required.
  • A certificate or diploma in information technology, database design are considered assets.
  • Business analyst, project management, and/or business process experience is preferred.
  • Success in this position requires excellent communication skills, relationship building, coaching and development, analytical thinking, focus on results, efficiency and thoroughness, service orientation, self-confidence and planning and prioritizing.

Pre-employment Requirements

  • An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.

Compensation: Pay Grade 11 $44.76 ¿ 59.84 per hour

Days of Work: This position works a 5-day work

week with 1 day off in a 3-week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
