We are seeking a permanent Facilities, Fibre and Optical Transport Engineer to join our Telecommunications Department in
Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise, coordinate and directly support technical staff and provide related functional leadership to project team members,
field technicians, suppliers, and contractors.
- Provide complex and non-routine technical expertise and analysis for the selection and development of corporate optical
transport and channel multiplex communications networks including network synchronization, network management, power
line carrier and teleprotection equipment.
- Provide complex and non-routine technical design expertise to support facility requirements which may include buildings,
reserve power, towers, HVAC, alarms and other ancillary supporting systems.
- Provide complex and non-routine technical design expertise to support fibre optic cable requirements which may include
OPGW, Aerial and buried and intrabuilding fibre cables. Responsible for overseeing related equipment systems designs,
technical specifications, procurement and selection activities, design drawings, installation work descriptions, project
management, commissioning procedures, and related administration of contracts.
- Responsible for critical energy system telecommunication transport equipment for protection and control applications to
support adequate latency and redundancy requirements.
- Assist internal and external planning and project management staff in scoping, scheduling, cost estimating, progress
reporting, and cost control of related projects.
- Provide support to maintenance engineering and field technicians on existing systems and facilities.
- Make related technical presentations.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of Electrical Engineering from a University of recognized standing plus a minimum of seven years related
engineering work experience.
- Membership in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (EGM) Demonstrated ability to perform all supervisor
responsibilities and lead technical teams.
- Ability to plan, design, organize, and control all aspects of complex optical transport or facilities projects.
- Demonstrated understanding of the design and operation of Optical Transport, multiplex and carrier systems.
- Demonstrated understanding of the design and operation of Telecommunications Facilities and supporting infrastructure
which including buildings, reserve power, towers, HVAC, alarms and other ancillary systems.
- Demonstrated understanding of the design and fibre optic cabling and supporting infrastructure which includes OPGW, aerial
and buried cables.

Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $51.34-$70.34 Hourly,
$98,380.88-$134,784.78 Annually.
