Overview
This position supports research activities by performing basic, routine tasks and repetitive work as outlined by established standard operating procedures or work instructions. The role requires minimal interpretation or independent analysis and is carried out under close supervision. The incumbent contributes to the research team by assisting in data collection, preparation, and other assigned tasks, with guidance and oversight provided by a Research Associate or senior researcher.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of administrative and operational tasks to support laboratory and research activities.
- Maintain accurate records, manage documents, and update lab manuals.
- Organize and schedule meetings, interviews, focus groups, and other research-related events.
- Provide general information to clients and research participants, including scheduling and location details.
- Maintain office supplies and equipment; coordinate service or repairs as needed.
- Prepare courier shipments and track inventory to ensure essential lab supplies are stocked.
- Assist with data entry into research databases, following established protocols and ensuring proper maintenance of research records.
- Support lab operations by cleaning and organizing workspaces, maintaining equipment, and sterilizing or storing lab instruments.
- Collect samples, prepare media, and assist with basic material preparation and simple lab procedures such as tests and measurements.
- Conduct routine data collection and preparation activities, including sorting, sampling, and identification.
- Assist with animal care duties including feed preparation, basic animal care, and routine maintenance of animal facilities.
- Follow detailed instructions and report any issues or deviations to the supervisor.
- Interact primarily with team members and maintain positive working relationships; occasional interaction with clients or participants may be required.
- Work is performed in a variety of settings including offices, laboratories, and outdoor environments, with potential exposure to weather or field elements.
Qualifications
Successful completion of at least one year of post-secondary education in a related field. Limited to no prior research experience required; training will be provided.
