Brief Description Reporting to the Senior Director – Development and Engagement, the incumbent develops and implements Oxfam-Québec’s fundraising strategy . The incumbent oversees public campaigns (face-to-face, telemarketing, etc.) while ensuring the growth of major and planned gifts from foundations, institutions, and individual donors.

This strategic role combines leadership, team development, key relationship management and innovation in philanthropic approaches. The person works closely with senior management and communications to maximize impact and ensure the organization’s financial sustainability. The person manages a portfolio of major donors and prospects. He/she also implements strategies for relationship building, solicitation, recognition and loyalty.

Main Responsibilities Strategy and planning

  • Define annual and triennial mobilization and fundraising strategies, in line with the orientations of the Development and Engagement department, by existing source and by solicitation, ensuring alignment with the work of other departments, primarily the Communications team;
  • Ensure regular monitoring and performance evaluation of the Major Gifts, Intermediate Gifts, and Donor Liaison teams;
  • Ensure the growth and impact of the philanthropic circle;
  • Participate in the creation of strategic alliances with external partners and represent the organization in networks;
  • Participate in Quebec and Canadian philanthropy events, develop the philanthropic network, and promote Oxfam-Quebec’s ways of doing things;
  • Work closely with Oxfam Canada and Oxfam International to create synergies and strategic alignments;
  • Participate in developing a fundraising culture and reflexes among employees, volunteers, and other stakeholders.

Development

  • Identify, solicit, and nurture trusted relationships and connections with potential donors and prospects, in collaboration with senior management and senior management of development and engagement;
  • Collaborate in the preparation and delivery of presentations with senior management, and ensure follow-up;
  • Maintain a strategic watch and analyze market trends in areas of expertise, to identify new opportunities;
  • Monitor new communications channels and their use for fundraising;
  • Develop and apply new fundraising and solicitation sources, methods, and activities;
  • Develop new market analysis methods and automate results reporting.

Implementation

  • Implement the various elements of the organization’s fundraising activities, partnership development, and fundraising campaigns;
  • Design and plan the visibility plan for fundraising campaigns;
  • Participate in the development and monitoring of awareness, solicitation, and loyalty plans to ensure an optimal donor experience;
  • Analyze trends specific to the annual fundraising campaign, identify opportunities and challenges, and develop action plans to achieve established objectives;
  • Report on results and performance of fundraising campaigns, including strategic analysis and repositioning where appropriate;
  • Collaborate and interface with internal and external fundraising departments and committees;
  • Ensure the integrity, reliability, efficiency, and proper management of the database by team members;
  • Ensure accountability and transparency to donors, as well as the integrity of fundraising systems and processes, notably by issuing fundraising policies aligned with Oxfam-Québec’s values, principles, and mission;
  • Manage fundraising budgets.

Management

  • Manage the team’s human resources and their priorities, encouraging participation, innovation, and continuous improvement in line with fundraising objectives and supporting their development, while respecting feminist principles;
  • Execute the internal communications and change management plan, adapting it to the context, as an ambassador for her team;
  • Ensure a smooth flow of information within the team and foster a healthy work dynamic.

Organizational life

  • Contribute to maintaining a positive and stimulating work environment through the quality of relations with colleagues;
  • Actively participate in management and organizational special events;
  • Share and embody Oxfam’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against any behavior contrary to the Code of Conduct, including sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse, bullying, lack of integrity, corruption, and fraud;
  • Carry out all other related tasks, linked to his/her skills and the smooth running of the organization.

Qualifications Required Education

  • University degree in an appropriate discipline, preferably with a specialization in philanthropic management and/or fundraising.
  • Membership of professional associations, such as APGP, AFP, etc.
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (asset).

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 8 years’ relevant experience or experience in a similar environment, including at least 5 years as a philanthropic team manager.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment (asset).
  • Experience with major donors and individual gift fundraising.

Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to solicit and secure major contributions from donors and partners.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Quebec philanthropic community and its major players.
  • Knowledge of international development (an important asset).
  • Commitment to gender justice and women’s rights, social justice, equitable partnership, and international solidarity (Pact for Change).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite software and CRM (customer relationship management).
  • Knowledge of Prodon (an asset) or other philanthropic management software.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written French and English.

Availability

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends (occasional).
  • Willingness to travel occasionally in Canada, mainly in Quebec.
