QC Manufacturing Engineer
About the role
Poseidon Ocean Systems Ltd. Is seeking a Manufacturing / QC Engineering or Technologist to support the production and development of innovative aquaculture technology. This role will report to the Operations Manager and will collaborate closely with Engineering, Purchasing, Production teams and other stakeholders. You will be responsible for the verification of quality on incoming parts, evaluation and testing of finished goods, and providing ongoing support and direction to the production team as needed to satisfy the quality goals of the organization. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing and assembly setting, and good understanding of both mechanical and electrical assembly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect mechanical components and assemblies to verify conformance with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Perform dimensional and visual inspections, with particular attention to weldments and piping assemblies.
- Utilize SolidWorks PDM for accessing and referencing technical drawings and documentation.
- Document and manage quality records using Microsoft Business Central, and inventory control with Sage 300
- Identify and report non-conformances, initiate corrective actions, and follow up on resolutions.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Purchasing teams to support quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in the assessment of supplier components and incoming parts used in compressors, pump systems, piping and structural components.
- Interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and industry standards to evaluate mechanical assemblies.
- Contribute to process audits, internal quality checks, and documentation compliance.
Required Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in a QC/QA role, preferably in an assembly or manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience working with mechanical systems; exposure to diesel engines, piping systems, and air compressors is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM and an ability to navigate CAD models and technical documentation.
- Experience with Microsoft Business Central and Sage 300 or similar ERP/MRP systems.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of aquaculture life support systems and environmental controls.
- Knowledge of weld inspection, fabrication tolerances, and mechanical fit-up practices.
- Certification in quality (e.g., CQT, CQE) is an asset.
- Exposure to ISO 9001 quality management systems or equivalent standards.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on assembly environment.
