Position Details

The University of Lethbridge is seeking a full-time, 18 month term position as an Indigenous Coordinator, starting Fall 2025.

This role is dedicated to strengthening relationships with Indigenous communities, particularly Blackfoot Nations and fostering culturally appropriate medical education. This position collaborates with the University of Lethbridge Indigenous Relations, the University of Calgary’s Indigenous, Local and Global Health (ILGH) Office, SAMP Leadership, and the Cumming School of Medicine UME office to support Indigenous community engagement, opportunities to support curricular objectives in the context of Southern Alberta, and program alignment with social accountability and Indigenous health priorities.

The successful candidate will facilitate meaningful relationships with Indigenous, and specifically Blackfoot, educators, leaders, and community partners to support the strategic goals of the program related to Indigenous health and education. The candidate will also collaborate with institutional parters to develop short and long term plans that reflect the diverse needs of Indigenous communities and how they are incorporated into the SAMP program. Simultaneously, the candidate is expected to assist with designing an Indigenous outreach program and ensure that there is adequate support for Indigenous medical learners.

This in-person position is at ULethbridge main campus, with occasional travel to the UCalgary campus and/or surrounding communities in Southern Alberta.

Position Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree

  • Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous communities, preferably Blackfoot Nations. Strong understanding of Indigenous health, education, and cultural protocols.

  • Excellent communication, planning, and relationship building skills.

  • Experience in program coordination, strategic planning, and reporting.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across institutions and with diverse stakeholders.

  • A valid unrestricted Class 5 Driver’s License with no more than 6 demerits and submission of a motor vehicle record (driver abstract) dated within 3 months of the posting close is required.

Starting Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE)

$5,291.00 - $5,990.00 monthly

Full Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE)

$5,291.00 - $6,687.00 monthly (AUPE - Grade 12)
