(Permanent, Full-time; 75 hours bi-weekly) The City Clerk’s Office at the City of Lethbridge is inviting applications for the permanent position of Quasi-Judicial Board Coordinator/Project and Committee Assistant. Reporting to the Deputy City Clerk, this position assists in the delivery of administrative assistance to the Assessment Review Board, the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board, and the Community Requirements Appeal Board. Wage: $40.24 per hour

Duties You will assist in the scheduling of assessment appeals; preparation of notices of hearing; notification of decisions; and the preparation of agendas and decisions for: the Assessment Review Board, the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board, and the Community Requirements Appeal Board. You will handle all inquiries related to the appeal process. Additionally, you will work on Census, Election, Protocol and other projects as well as corporate advertising, bylaw consolidation, sealing of contracts, and administration for the Department. There also will be some work with other Boards, Committees, and Commissions and City Council. The incumbent may be required to work irregular hours on occasion. This position requires the successful candidate to work full-time in the office and not remotely.

Qualifications

  • A two-year Office Administration diploma and considerable directly related experience or a comparable combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge in the Assessment Appeal Process and of legislated requirements outlined in the Municipal Government Act will be considered an asset
  • You will be required to take the mandated certification for the Assessment Review Board as well as the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board
  • Superior organizational skills and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Keen attention to detail, accompanied by the ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Customer-oriented with proven ability to deal effectively and diplomatically with board members and the public
  • Successful interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in a team environment, as well as deliver presentations to groups of varying sizes
  • Proficient computer skills and experience using the Microsoft Office Suite of applications
