About the role

DEPARTMENT: Engineering

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The objective of the Engineering Intern is to assist the engineering team throughout the project launch lifecycle by applying knowledge and skills from school to make continuous improvements to processes.

DIRECT REPORTS:

Team Leader – Process Development Engineering

MAJOR DUTIES:

With guidance from Engineering Management:

  • Working with all internal departments to document solution assumptions and consolidate the information into proposal framework
  • Execution of DOEs (Design Of Experiments) developed by supervising engineer
  • Collect and assemble information required to produce price quotations and customer proposals, including technical research, technical communication.
  • Facilitate customer design review for gaps to manufacturing requirements for actioning and clarification.
  • Document draft process flows, work instructions, process control requirements, and PFMEA’s according to ISO standards.
  • Involvement in cross-functional teams and meetings.
  • Document and Record Control

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications

  • 3rd or 4th year of university/college engineering co-op program (manufacturing or mechanical) OR a new university/college engineering graduate
  • Project management knowledge / experience for priority completion
  • ISO 9001 (ISO 13485 a plus).
  • Practical knowledge of 2D and 3D drawing softwares.
  • Manufacturing environment experience regarding department interaction, equipment, facility, and personnel (Automotive or Medical Devices experience a plus).
  • Preference given to mechanical engineering student with production and customer service/business development experience.
