The Operations Training Coordinator is responsible for supporting the development and coordination of employee training programs across all departments. This role focuses on building and maintaining a structured training framework to support onboarding, cross-training, compliance, and ongoing learning initiatives that align with operational goals.
Acting as a key liaison between Operations, HR, and plant leadership, the Operations Training Coordinator helps foster a culture of safety, performance, and employee growth. The role also manages day-to-day training logistics and provides facility support to ensure a safe, organized, and training-ready environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Training & Development Program Design (50%)
- Develop and implement the onboarding program for team members in collaboration with HR and department leads.
- Support the Director, People & Culture and Plant Manager in building a robust training matrix for all production departments.
- Lead the creation and rollout of job-specific SOPs, work instructions, and training documentation.
- Coordinate and schedule internal and external training sessions (e.g., HACCP, WHMIS, food safety, Redzone, First Aid).
- Track, maintain, and audit training records to ensure all employees are current on required certifications and compliance courses.
- Conduct regular gap analysis to identify training needs by department or role.
- Assist in preparing for customer, CFIA, and third-party audits by ensuring training records are audit-ready.
Training Administration & Communications (25%)
- Maintain and update training calendar and training dashboards.
- Coordinate logistics for new hire orientation and cross-training programs.
- Support and promote continuous learning initiatives across all shifts.
- Provide regular reports on training completion rates, overdue trainings, and department-level compliance.
- Develop internal communication content for bulletin boards, digital signage, and posters to reinforce safety and performance messaging.
Facility & Employee Support (15%)
- Oversee and coordinate breakroom cleanliness and facility walk-throughs to ensure a safe, welcoming environment.
- Manage locker assignments in coordination with laundry attendants and QA for compliance and hygiene.
- Monitor contractor check-in and compliance records for plant access and safety protocols.
- Support administrative duties as assigned (e.g., scan card distribution, shift coverage scheduling, laundry coverage coordination).
Payroll & System Support (10%)
- Approve and verify timesheets as a temporary measure until full WebClock functionality is implemented.
- Provide basic Redzone training and user support to new hires and supervisors.
- Assist in troubleshooting attendance or payroll discrepancies related to scheduling and clock-ins.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in training coordination, operations, or HR roles; manufacturing or food processing experience is a strong asset.
- Experience in developing and delivering training content.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and on-the-job training methods.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of organizational ability and attention to detail.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with Redzone, SharePoint, or LMS platforms is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across shifts and departments.
