SENIOR ACCOUNTING ANALYST
As a Senior Accounting Analyst, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity and stability of our organization. Your expertise will contribute to the success and growth of the credit union while maintaining the highest level of accuracy and professionalism.
In summary, the Senior Accounting Analyst will:
- Have for responsibility for analyzing and interpreting complex financial data, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations, and supporting the financial decision-making process.
- Provide ad-hoc analysis and review of specific accounting or financial information and report on the results.
As the successful candidate, you’ll have responsibility for:
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including the finance team, credit and retail and commercial lending departments, and other relevant stakeholders, to ensure smooth financial operations and reporting.
- Supporting the department in preparing and analyzing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitoring performance against budget and provide insightful explanations for any variances.
- Conducting comprehensive analysis of financial reports to assess risk, streamline processes and to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement that will aid in decision-making processes.
- Monitoring foreign currency transactions and assessing their impact on the credit union’s financial position.
- Analyzing foreign exchange risks and fluctuations and providing timely reports on exposure and potential hedging strategies.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Facilitating external, internal audits including regulatory examinations by providing auditors with relevant financial data, supporting documentation, and explanations as needed.
- Implementing audit recommendations to improve internal controls and processes.
- Overseeing the integrity of the general ledger system for all divisions to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions and adherence to accounting standards.
- Preparing and submitting necessary financial reports to regulatory authorities as required.
- Generate accurate and timely financial reports for management, Board of Directors, and other relevant committees.
The “must-have” skills and qualifications that we’re looking for are:
- Demonstrated knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while guiding and supporting team members.
- The ability to present financial data and analysis in a clear and concise manner.
- Solid understanding risk assessment methodologies and risk mitigation strategies to safeguard the credit union’s assets and reputation.
- Experience facilitating internal and external audits.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to multitask while effectively prioritizing.
- An undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance.
- A CPA designation in good standing.
- A minimum of five (5) years of public accounting and/or private industry experience with knowledge of tax compliance.
- High degree of personal integrity, ethics and professionalism.
