About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to build and lead a brand-new Development and Community Relations department. As the Director, you will shape the strategy and culture of this department, driving transformational growth in fundraising, donor engagement, and community partnerships. You’ll be a key ambassador for Lansdowne, helping to secure the resources and relationships that will sustain and expand our mission.
Key Responsibilities
· Establish and lead a new development and communications department
· Develop and execute multi-year fundraising and communications strategies
· Lead major gift cultivation, our capital campaign, and donor stewardship
· Oversee donor databases, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, and data-driven reporting
· Plan and execute donor and community events aligned with strategic goals
· Foster a high-performing, inclusive, and collaborative team culture
· Ensure compliance with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), and Imagine Canada standards
· Champion Lansdowne’s RIDES values in all community engagement efforts

Education, Qualifications and Certifications
· Completion of a post-secondary Degree in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership or equivalent education.
· Canadian Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation preferred.
Experience and Knowledge
· Minimum of three (3) years corporate or fundraising experience with an emphasis on major gifts.
· Minimum of five (5) years of corporate communications and relationship-building experience.
· Demonstrated success in securing major gifts and leading campaigns
· Knowledge of CRA guidelines and ethical fundraising practices
· Proof of immunizations or willingness to obtain

We work with children and families in our centres, virtually and in a variety of community settings such as homes, schools, childcares and camps, to reach more clients and families.
Lansdowne Children's Centre proudly delivers SmartStart Hub services, serving Brantford, Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk Counties, the Six Nations of the Grand River and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nations. Our coordinated services and interdisciplinary teams engage team members across different specialties to discuss care plans, share insights and work with families.
