Overview
Seeking Music instructors in piano, voice, ukulele and/or guitar to develop and lead engaging recreational music programs starting in the fall. An ideal candidate will have experience in music education, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering musical creativity in a safe and welcoming environment. The position will start with 1 to 2 programs per week during the fall session.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging music programs for participants, ensuring they meet the required standards.
- Demonstrate and teach activities using established methods, providing helpful feedback to participants.
- Create a safe, welcoming and inclusive learning environment
- Modify programs as needed to ensure the inclusion of all participants and integrate inclusion staff, private support workers and volunteers into programs as required
- Prepare and organize the necessary music and equipment
- Maintain accurate records, including class attendance and incident reports, and distribute relevant forms and program information.
- Ensure equipment and instruments are maintained in good condition and stored properly.
- Provide a high level of front-line customer service and respond to participants' immediate concerns and needs
- Act as a bridge between the facility and participants.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma and current technical or practical training in a relevant discipline.
- Experience: At least one year of related experience.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including daytime, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on program needs.
- Instructional Skills: Proven experience in providing instruction within a program setting.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, along with strong customer service and behavior management abilities.
- Background Check: Provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check at your own expense as a condition of employment.
- Reliability: Demonstrated reliability, positive attitude, and good employment record.
