Position Overview

The Public Safety Department – Bylaw Services requires a temporary full-time Bylaw Ticket Screening Clerk to join their team for approximately two years.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for receiving and reviewing disputed bylaw tickets; explaining the dispute resolution process and determining if a ticket should be cancelled or upheld pursuant to policy and past practices; providing information, clarification and assistance to internal and external contacts related to bylaw information; preparing and maintaining a variety of materials, reports or files; and composing routine correspondence. You will also maintain and update a variety of computer files and data including data related to paid, cancelled and outstanding Bylaw Enforcement Notices (tickets).
Requirements
You will have general office experience, a minimum keyboarding speed of 40 wpm net, a demonstrated ability in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), plus have considerable experience with or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You also possess a thorough knowledge of related bylaws, and regulations together with a strong competency in communication and customer service skills in responding to enquires from the public, including front counter support when required.
Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete standardized tests or exercises to demonstrate their applicable skills and knowledge.
Compensation
$29.48 to $34.63 per hour
(Pay Grade 15 – January 2024 rates)
Hours of Work
The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle
Additional Information
For temporary full-time positions of eight (8) months or longer, a City employee who is successful on the posting will have the right to revert to their former position.
