With over 30 years of leadership experience in public service, business, and community engagement, Senator Pupatello brings a strong focus on economic development, finance, trade, and multi-sector collaboration.

This position offers the opportunity to work closely with a high-profile and results-oriented Parliamentarian committed to advancing Canada’s prosperity through strategic policy and innovation.

As a key member of the Senator’s team, you will contribute to her legislative and policy work through rigorous research, financial and economic analysis, and strategic communication. You will help shape the Senator’s positions on a broad range of issues impacting economic and industrial development, support interventions in the Senate, and engage with stakeholders across business, government, and civil society. Your work will ensure the Senator remains well-informed, influential, and effective in advancing her priorities.

Core responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on economic, financial, and industrial policy issues;
  • Draft high-quality speeches, briefing notes, reports, and communications materials;
  • Monitor Senate proceedings, committee work, and policy developments to identify opportunities for engagement;
  • Provide sound, evidence-based advice to inform legislative and strategic priorities;
  • Represent the Senator at meetings and events and build strong relationships across key sectors and stakeholder groups.

The general public, to staff one (1) indeterminate full-time position in the Office of the Honourable Senator Sandra Pupatello.

Prerequisites

  • University degree from a recognized institution in economics, finance, political science, business, public policy, or another field relevant to economic development and industry; or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience related to the duties of the position;
  • Extensive and recent experience in researching, analyzing and assessing a broad range of information and making recommendations;
  • Extensive and recent experience in writing documents such as briefing notes, reports, statements and speeches;
  • Experience in providing strategic advice to senior officials on a variety of politically sensitive issues;
  • Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with senior officials and/or parliamentarians;
  • Extensive experience in using the MS-Office suite;
  • Strategic and organized thinker with the ability to coordinate and multi-task to accomplish a variety of activities with tight timelines;
  • Knowledge of effective communication techniques, methods, and practices, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally both orally and in writing;
  • Parliamentary work experience or knowledge of the Senate, its policies, and the legislative process is considered an asset;
  • English is essential; bilingualism is considered a strong asset.
