About the role

Full-Time Position Title: Crude Oil & Condensate Lease Specialist - Marketing

Location: Calgary, AB

Reporting to: Senior Manager, Crude Oil Trading & Marketing

Key Areas of Accountability and Responsibility

The Crude Oil & Condensate Lease Specialist - Marketing will focus on maximizing the netback value of the Crown’s non-operated crude oil and condensate production through the development and execution of marketing strategies, contract negotiations, and logistical coordination. This fast-paced, deadline-driven role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively. The ideal candidate will be detailed-oriented and commercially driven with extensive experience in crude oil logistics, contract negotiations, and market analysis within the oil and gas sector, along with a strong established network in the energy industry.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize market intelligence to strategically sell non-operated crude oil and condensate volumes to maximize netbacks for the Crown, taking into account flat price movements, differentials, transportation costs (trucking, terminal, tariffs, loss allowance, admin fees, etc.), equalization, diluent costs, blending optimization opportunities, delivery logistics, and applicable premiums or discounts.
  • Negotiate and maintain crude oil and condensate lease sales agreements, pipeline transportation contracts, and other commercial agreements.
  • Monitor real-time market data and takeaway capacity to support informed decision-making and long-term planning.
  • Coordinate nominations, scheduling, and delivery logistics by liaising closely with operators, purchasers, and midstream companies.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with external partners (producers, operators, midstream companies, purchasers, etc.) and internal stakeholders (Senior Leadership, Risk/Finance, Audit, Operations, etc.).
  • Analyze marketing performance metrics such as realized netback pricing and identify areas for improvement.
  • Recognize and manage risks related to pricing volatility, contract exposure, infrastructure disruptions, and delivery rateability issues.
  • Stay informed about market trends, crude oil pricing, and industry regulations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business, Engineering, Economics, or Finance.

  • Minimum 7-10 years of proven work experience in crude oil marketing or commercial roles.

  • Strong experience in building and maintaining customer relationships.

  • Results-driven mindset with a focus on achieving measurable outcomes.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.

  • Self-motivated and a strong team player.

  • Comprehensive understanding of Canadian and North American crude oil markets, pricing structures, and commercial strategies.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and marketing tools
