Position Overview: The Shipper is integral to our operations, responsible for managing the transportation of our products both within Canada and Internationally. This position demands an in-depth understanding of Customs and International shipping requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the shipment of goods within Canada and to international destinations.
- Thoroughly understand and adhere to domestic and international customs protocols, including documentation, duties, tariffs, and import/export restrictions.
- Use computer systems to meticulously track, record, and manage shipments.
- Securely package goods to customer standards.
- Navigate and comply with international regulations pertaining to the transportation of hazardous materials.
- Operate or demonstrate a willingness to learn how to operate a forklift.
- Maintain and inspect shipping supplies and equipment routinely.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholder departments and external shipping carriers.
- Continuously update knowledge on evolving customs and shipping regulations, attending workshops or courses when necessary.
- Support inventory management and related warehousing activities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain management, or related field is an advantage.
- Strong grasp of customs regulations, documentation, and international shipping protocols; certification in customs procedures is a strong asset.
- Certified or experienced in handling hazardous materials for shipping.
- Computer literacy, with experience in logistics and shipping software.
- Experience or willingness to craft wooden shipping boxes.
- Valid forklift certification or readiness to undergo training.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
- Outstanding communication skills.
- Comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work with wood, table saw, nail gun accurately.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs.
- Able to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended durations.
