Your Opportunity!
We’re looking for a Kinesiologist. This role is responsible for enhance residents' health, support injury prevention, and contribute to the overall wellness culture within the community.
What You Will Do:
- Design and implement evidence-based fitness and wellness programs tailored to help residents stay fit, healthy, and achieve their individual wellness goals.
- Utilize knowledge of biomechanics, anatomy, physiology, and psychomotor behavior to develop strategies that improve health, prevent injuries, and enhance overall well-being.
- Conduct assessments to evaluate residents’ physical abilities, health conditions, and wellness goals, and develop personalized plans to meet their needs.
- Advise residents on safe movement techniques and provide injury prevention strategies to reduce the risk of falls, strains, and other health-related issues.
- Work closely with the Health & Wellness Manager and other team members to integrate kinesiology practices into broader wellness initiatives and support the community’s health objectives.
- Track residents' progress in fitness and wellness programs, adjusting plans as needed to ensure continued improvement and goal achievement.
- Educate residents on the importance of physical activity and wellness, offering guidance on exercise, posture, movement patterns, and overall health.
- Tailor programs specifically for the active aging population, ensuring that activities are appropriate for residents of varying abilities and support their long-term health.
- Offer ongoing encouragement, support, and motivation to residents, helping them stay engaged with their wellness routines and encouraging healthy lifestyle choices.
- Provide fitness guidance and wellness support as part of a team that operates 24/7, ensuring residents have access to the resources they need to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle at all times.
Qualifications or Skills Required:
- Covid-19 vaccination is mandatory
- A Bachelor or Masters’ degree in kinesiology or a related field such as Human Kinetics, Exercise Science or Exercise Physiology (Required)
- Minimum two years creating, delivering and assessing programs to support individual health and wellness (Required)
- Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of products (Required)
- Experience working with active aging adults in seniors’ housing context (independent living preferred)
- CPR and First Aid Certification (Required)
