Who you are
- CPA designation or in progress, preferred
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong working knowledge of accounting principles (ASPE, IFRS, and/or US GAAP)
- Proficient in Excel and accounting software (SAP S/4HANA preferred)
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational and communication abilities
What the job involves
- We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Senior Accountant to support key accounting functions, including the month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and tax filings. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of accounting principles and play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records
- Support the monthly and quarterly close process, ensuring all deadlines are met
- Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation
- Perform cash and bank reconciliations
- Prepare quarterly and annual reconciliations and support financial statement preparation
- Complete and reconcile sales tax filings (e.g., GST/HST) accurately and on time
- Maintain general ledger accounts and assist with account analysis
- Liaise with internal and external auditors
- Communicate with Finance leadership to identify risks and opportunities
- Collaborate with operations teams to optimize business outcomes
- Contribute to the successful launch of a new accounting system by participating in testing, training, and user support
- Support audits and respond to ad hoc financial reporting needs
