What You Will Do
Reporting to Senior Planner – Transit Service, the Transit Planner is responsible for the planning, design and analysis of transit services to determine the best possible service for customers within the available budget, Service Standards and other policy constraints established by the TTC. This includes undertaking statistical and economic analyses of new service proposals and the ongoing evaluation of existing transit services. The Transit Planner is responsible for the planning, design and analysis of transit services. This involves:
Initiating, planning, and coordinating service changes for day-to-day transit services, and for transit expansion projects, using the TTC’s Service Standards. Liaising and coordinating delivery with the Scheduling team. Initiating proposals for new transit services, and special services to improve service for customers and optimizing the transit network. Representing the Service Planning Department in working with Operations staff and other TTC Departments, undertaking analyses of their proposals, and bringing forward appropriate proposals for implementation. Analyzing ridership count data and other information and determining priorities and recommendations for service improvements or reductions on existing routes. Projecting resource requirements associated with each package of service changes, and tracking actual resource consumption relative to budget. Reviewing and checking for accuracy of transit information and signage prepared for customer information and for internal purposes. Preparing briefings and reports on a wide range of service planning matters. Representing the TTC at public meetings to discuss existing transit service conditions and/or transit service proposals. Liaising with internal TTC staff and external organizations, impacted communities, government bodies and other agencies and organizations on service changes, special projects, study results, proposals and procedures. The incumbent in this role will also work in accordance with TTC’s commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC’s policies. Participates in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program.

What Qualifications Do You Bring
Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office 365 (Excel/Access/Outlook/Teams/Word/PowerPoint/SharePoint), Adobe Illustrator and ArCGIS (an asset)
Ability to handle changing priorities in a positive manner, and must be able to ensure that all operating and administrative problems are resolved with minimal interruption to the work of the section.
