About the role

Key Opinion Leader Engagements

  • Drive regional, national, and international Key Opinion Leader identification, development, and support across core specialties in support of the Merz Aesthetics product portfolio.
  • Respond to and document unsolicited requests from health care providers for medical information on company products and pipeline.
  • Maintain high level of clinical knowledge around Merz Aesthetic portfolio and market competitors, increasing credibility and strong educational discourse
  • Provide competitive intelligence to Merz internal stakeholders
  • Support Investigator Initiated Trials and educational/publication requests

Medical Congress Management

  • Advanced planning for assigned medical meetings
  • Educate congress faculty that are presenting on Merz portfolio science to ensure awareness around new indications, educational opportunities, and communicate follow-up activities to commercial counterparts where appropriate
  • Observe relevant sessions at medical meetings, follow-up on educational opportunities and provide executive summary on Tier 1 congresses

Brand Lead Expert

  • Assigned as specific Merz product lead expert to support scientific needs
  • Participate in scientific and clinical workshops for internal meetings to help strengthen scientific acumen across various divisions of Merz Aesthetics
  • Provide Medical/Clinical teams with feedback and insights from interactions with thought leaders and investigators

Scientific Advisory Boards

  • Aid with the execution of Medical Affairs advisory boards in support of the Aesthetic portfolio for the purpose of identifying knowledge/science gaps, problem resolution, aid with product development, and generate key opinion leader consensus on treatment guidelines

Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (incl. Languages)

  • Strong clinical knowledge in relevant therapeutic areas; for example tissue engineering, dermatology, immunology
  • Business acumen and strong working knowledge of industry and the medical device/pharmaceutical regulatory and compliance environment.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Knowledge of methods

  • Adhere to corporate SOPs and ensure vigilant compliance with relevant legal and regulatory guidelines governing scientific interactions with physicians and healthcare professionals across all activities, including those related to clinical trials, scientific interactions with internal and external groups, and responses to unsolicited medical/scientific information.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and regulatory guidelines governing commercial and scientific interactions with healthcare professionals and other business partners.
  • Maintain strict adherence to company compliance policies and government regulations. Foster the highest levels of personal and corporate integrity. Hold working knowledge of PhRMA and AdvaMed Code and FDA/Health Canada regulations regarding marketing of prescription drug and medical device products.

Other Information ;

  • Minimum 60% field travel, which may include weekends and overnights, for healthcare provider engagements, internal meetings, and attendance at medical meetings
  • Serve as a field-based medical and scientific resource, interfacing with internal stakeholders & external customers
  • Foster collaborative relationships with key opinion leaders to facilitate unbiased exchange of medical information
  • Maintain and continual development of knowledge on company product information, clinical trial data, safety and scientific information to support the appropriate use of company products
  • Ability to identify appropriate medical experts for Merz initiatives
  • Facilitate unsolicited request for Investigator-Initiated Trials (IITs) and support Medical Affairs initiatives when approved by North America Medical Affairs
  • Attend assigned scientific, medical congresses in Canada and the US, to capture relevant medical intelligence and timely reporting to internal stakeholders
  • Serve as MSL team lead for an assigned product and keep MSLs abreast of relevant updates
  • Identify and assess potential pre-clinical or clinical research investigator/sites for Merz clinical development programs
  • Meets administrative deadlines for travel arrangements, expense reports and reports to management on TL interactions/insights
