About the role
The Friends is recruiting Independent Living Assistants in the Muskoka area requiring travel to client's homes in and around the Huntsville area for our In-Home Respite and Attendant Outreach programs

Independent Living Assistants provide service to individuals with physical disabilities and/or seniors by supporting them in their home with personal care, activities of daily living and encouraging/facilitating client ability to gain/maintain independence.
Some of the things we are looking for in the successful candidate are:
* PSW or equivalent
* the ability to work both with direction and independently
* strong verbal and written communication skills
* sound judgement and discretion in confidential matters
* experience and willingness to work as a team member
* excellent physical strength and stamina
* must have reliable vehicle & valid drivers license, travel is required
*willing and confident to drive in the Huntsville and surrounding area

Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, grooming, and dressing.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of clients.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary needs and preferences.
- Medication cueing and assistance
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Assist individuals with dementia care by providing activities and maintaining a calm environment.
- Communicate effectively with family members regarding client progress and needs.
Experience
- Previous experience in caregiving, senior care, assisted living, or home care is preferred.
- Familiarity with working with persons with disabilities is a plus.
- Knowledge of meal preparation and dietary restrictions is beneficial.
- Experience in medication administration within a caregiving context is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with clients are essential.
